UCF urges Shell to leave ALEC - United Church Funds

UCF is one of several ethical investors urging Shell to cancel its membership with ALEC, an organization with a questionable stance on climate change.

The letter sent to Shell’s CEO Ben van Beurden — of which UCF is a signatory —  states, “We welcome the recent reports that Shell is considering relinquishing membership of the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC), given that this organization has historically taken a strongly obstructive lobbying position on climate change policy”. To read more about the letter sent to Shell, click here.

UCF was also a co-filer on a successful 2014 resolution urging Occidental Petroleum (Oxy) to leave ALEC. Oxy responded by withdrawing its membership.
