The Brown Endowment provides funding for United Church of Christ (UCC) students pursuing a Master of Divinity (M.Div.) degree or its equivalent. Potential Brown Scholars must demonstrate at least a year of active membership in a UCC church and maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA. Learn more about the eligibility criteria here.
Established through a generous bequest from Richard and Helen Brown in the 1990s, the Brown Endowment supports the development of faithful and well-prepared pastoral leaders within the United Church of Christ (UCC). UCF serves as trustee, managing both investment of the endowed funds and allocation of over $300,000 each year for individual scholarships and sponsorships to support theological education.
Since the first awards made in 1998, the Brown Endowment has provided nearly $7 million in funding, supporting more than 5,000 authorized ministers, seminaries and global partners across the UCC and in partner churches worldwide.
Now entering its fourth decade, the Brown Endowment illustrates the profound synergy between UCF’s prudent principles of long-term endowment management and investment approach while supporting the mission of providing scholarships for training and continuing education. The endowment also highlights the far-reaching and long-lasting impact that individuals can make through legacy gifts.
