Steve Godeke - United Church Funds

Through his consulting, writing and teaching, Steve has worked at the intersection of investment and mission since 2001. His consulting practice helps foundations, families and non-profits create mission-aligned investing strategies and connects them with the right partners and resources through advisor searches.

Steve is an adjunct professor of finance at New York University’s Stern School of Business and the School of Professional Studies where he currently teaches an ESG/Impact Investing Bootcamp. He has also recently completed an Impact Investing Handbook with Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors. Steve has served as Board Chair and led the Finance Committee of the Jessie Smith Noyes Foundation, a private foundation with a long history of integrating its investments and social justice mission. Prior to establishing his own firm, Steve worked in corporate and project finance at Deutsche Bank. Steven grew up on a family farm in Southern Indiana and graduated as a first generation student from Purdue University. He studied as a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Cologne and earned an M.P.A. from Harvard University. He lives in New York City with his partner Ted Trussell Porter, an architect.
