What does it mean to be carbon neutral?

You may have heard the term carbon neutral thrown around and be wondering what it means. In a nutshell, it means to negate the effects a company, organization or country is having on the environment. In other words, “canceling out” the CO2 emissions by doing something beneficial for the environment. According to Carbon News, “Carbon neutral refers to an individual, an organization or even an event or meeting that has had its full climate change impact calculated and negated, usually through a combination of reduction measures and carbon offsetting”.
